![]() So every flacon is a random mishmash, and then you get a dabber sample and contaminate it even more over a few weeks with your own skin+bacteria… then somebody orders a bottle, which as discussed could have a bunch of reasons for why it’s being sold on the grey market that make it ‘different’ from the store tester, and well you can start to see how there are discrepancies all over the place. What nobody will ever tell you is, the display flacons have many many differences… the juice in them is a mix of a variety of batch variations from the refill jugs, they’re constantly being opened and closed or left open / improperly closed, almost once a day some stupid customer will take the glass topper and ‘dab’ it on their wrist or neck, meaning the juice is rather contaminated with stuff, etc. I’m one of the guys who’s been explaining for several years here on Basenotes that the testers are actual product, usually in regard to the question of why does my juice (sample, decant, etc) smell different to the flacon or tester. For the most part, yes, they force the retails to actually open new product for display, but I’ve also had reps offer incentives where you sell X bottles of the new one and get a free tester bottle, so I know they’re out there and I’ve seen and received them. Trust me, I worked at the counter for a few years, I know how Lauder and Ford works. It’s possible there are fake Ford bottles out there, but I’ve never seen or heard of them and considering how many of us buy these, I’ve yet to see a single basnotes person show one, I don’t think I’ve even seen them on eBay either.īoss, regarding tester bottles, you’re not 100% correct. Master-Classter, Tom Ford doesn't make testers, they open actual products and use them to show/test the fragrance. They will require proof it is counterfeit, which you can show either by highlighting glaring physical differences between the real and fake bottles, or to have an official Tom Ford Private Blend retailer write a note indicating that it is counterfeit. If eBay will not help, worst case scenario, you can open a chargeback claim through your credit card that you used to make your purchase on PayPal. Although feedback can't be changed, you can write a follow-up feedback if things are resolved. This was a mistake I had made, and it resulted in my feedback being removed because it was "extortion". ![]() ![]() Do not mention feedback AT ALL in your communication with the seller. If they continue to be aggressive and dismissive or they ignore you, I would immediately leave negative feedback. ![]() You have a few options if the seller won't allow a return. Do you have any other Tom Ford bottle in your collection? Compare the sizes of the two.sometimes the fake is not proportional to the legitimate one.ĮBay will be helpful in trying to get a return and refund from the seller, GlacialSolace. ![]() There are Tom Ford fakes out ually they come from Romania, IIRC. ![]()
